| | Mobile Apps update for June: geographic filtering and barcode readers
The June update for Power BI Mobile apps is packed with great improvements and a number of exciting new features! This update introduces several new functions that make the most of your camera and geographic location services. For example, you can now center any map tile on your dashboard to your current location, and zoom in to see only points that are near you. We've also added Augmented Reality to our QR code processing, so you can see your data in a virtual overlay. Not ready for QR codes? Use the new barcode reading feature to display reports filtered by the scanned value!

Knowing how to write DAX formulas is the key to creating expressive and advanced reports. In fact, understanding DAX is such a useful part of advanced Power BI techniques that it was by far the most requested new content for our Guided Learning resource. That’s why we’re pleased to announce the launch of the new Introduction to DAX section of Guided Learning! The new course covers everything from what DAX is, to using advanced functions to filter tables. As with other sections in Guided Learning, each topic has a video explanation, screenshot examples, and text description.

Behind Power BI’s data load and transformation functionality is the M language. In our latest video on demand, taken from a June webinar, you’ll learn what kind of scenarios you’ll need to use the M language, as well as its basic syntax. You’ll also see several practical examples of how to use it, for example separating connection details out from queries to make them easy to update; creating and using functions; handling missing or changed data sources; and calling web services.
